Whether you’re looking for a green or frugal alternative to the rolls of wrapping paper you go through each Christmas, there are tons of recycled, repurposed and reusable gift wrap ideas out there to get you started. The newspaper gift bags (#1) are so cute, and I’m hoping Sean will make some to put our holiday treats in for family and friend. I’m just wondering how many newspapers you have to buy to ensure that there’s no bad news on your packages?

What do you reuse or repurpose as gift wrap?

I’ve been toying with the idea of using Christmas tins for gift wrap. But I keep coming back to the idea of storing many so that I would have different sizes (clutter) and obtaining them in first place (an expense). Fortunately I don’t need to decide yet – around 20 years ago I was able to purchase a roll of “seconds” Christmas wrapping paper and it’s become my trademark. I wonder how many more years it will last…. :D

Our family reuses bows from year to year. We set them aside as we open presents and then pack them away for next year.

Sweet! Thanks so much for featuring The Gifted Blog – my mom will be so happy to know that you picked her cardboard tube idea for your roundup. It is great to see this collection of ideas. I firmly believe that some of the most beautiful, thoughtful gift wrapping is also eco-friendly!

Making sure your current avatar actually looks like you is important too! While planning for your conference, if you have changed your hairstyle or color since your current avatar, change the picture as soon as you can so that people can get used to that avatar and they actually recognize you when they see you! What’s so funny is when people see you and say “Oh, you look JUST like your avatar!”

Ooooh, I’ve never been to a blogging conference, but after reading all those Relevant posts and tweets from last weekend it sure sounds like fun.  What a genius idea!

When you say avatar, do you mean the profile picture?  I thought an avatar was a computer generated drawing of yourself?

  • Frugalflamingo

Great post!  Yes…I too made sure to put my pic on my business cards this year for relevant.  Although dying your hair before the conference doesn’t help in recognizability:)  Lucky for me everyone remembers a flamingo:)

LOL, I hear ya. I just cut bangs recently but haven’t switched out my avatar so I’m guilty as well. :)
